Default Troubleshooting question...

I pulled my throttle body the other day to clean it...it needed it! At the same time i opened up my air cleaner lid. Now, my car constantly has a strong fuel odor (stinking up the garage!) It also seems a little harder to start when its warm....Does this sound like I missed anything to anyone? Everything seems to be reconnected...I'm worried I might end up buring this thing to the ground.

Check all your electrical connections. You may have damaged the throttle position sensor in the t/b when you cleaned it. It doesn't react too well to some cleaners, like brake cleaner, etc. I don't know exactly how the car would react to a bad tp sensor, but if the computer thought the throttle was higher than it really is, it would cause a rich condition.

Good luck
Chris

I'll check that. I pulled and cleaned the IAC, with TB cleaner....as it turns out, i read afterwards that you shouldnt really spray any cleaner on it. Could that be causing this? My car has a lot of miles, I wouldnt be surprised if an injector or two is bad. :bb

Under the throttle body is a vacuum "t" that directs vacuum to the charcoal canister. It is easily overlooked, and will cause a gasoline oder.

Did you overlook it?

:iagree: I don't think its the IAC cause I did the same to mine and it still works fine.
