Default The C5 brake hardware kit etc, with pic's...

Several guys have been having issues with this so I thought I'd show some pic's ....... Hope this helps some of you..... :D

The hardware kit, GM p/n 18039816, comes with 3 sheet metal shims (anti-rattle shims), and 2 rubber boots. You'll need 1 kit for each wheel....

These just snap in place, they hold the pads and allow them to slide after wearing down....

Apply some high-temp grease for the boots & guide pins (GM p/n 12530697, 2 req'd per caliper)....

The NEW calipers should come with 2 small bolts.....

There's a cavity in the top (underneath) side of caliper, the third clip snaps in, only one way will work......

another close up showing the assy.......

With pads installed.....

Good job Eddie. I checked my photos and discovered that I hadn't taken any photos of my brake upgrade job. Kind of unusual for me, but it happened.

Hey Eddie, I didnt go with the flashy Z06 setup. Wanna trade? :D I think the dull gray would look much better against all that polished aluminum suspension hardware you got.

Speaking of..... Eddie, have you tried to polish brake calipers? That would look amazing all polished up.

This is from a post back in June, prices have gone up, but not by much....

Here's the part numbers, and what I paid 4 them:
ZO6 (painted red) caliper, G.M. 88895128 & 29, I paid $81.37 each. The plain C5 caliper p/n is 12530682 & 83, should be cheaper, but they're not. ?

Rotors, A.C. Delco p/n is 177-852 & 53, I paid $53.06 each.

The anchor, or hanging bracket (caliper mount) dealer only, p/n 12455799 (both sides), I paid $27.47 each.

Guide pin (4 req'd) G.M. p/n 12530697, I paid $3.63 each.

When you buy your pads, they should come with a "hardware kit", with 4 small rubber boots as well. If not, that G.M. p/n is 18039816, I paid $16.47 for one........

Yes it would, the crevices would have to be done with a dremal tool, but do-able....... Interesting!!!!!!!
