I am putting a hi vol fuel pump in the car. 89 L98. I just put it in place but the electrical connection is different. Is it OK to just put normal electrical connections on the wires? Looks dangerous having 12 volts running inside the fuel tank, but obviously the fuel does seep into the old connection.
I bought the pump from Ecklers, so it is supposed to be the right one.
Cheers
When I replaced mine, I left the plug on the pump but eliminated that ominous three prong plug on the wires coming out of the tank by cutting the female part on the plug off and soldering the wires directly to the plug prongs on the male side. Then shrink wrap.
The less plugs (or connectors) you have in the system, the less chances you have of a plug going bad and stranding you like that 3 pronger did me. Hard-wiring flows more current anyway and is usually trouble-free. Any high-end r/c car racer will tell you that.
