Unfortunate regarding the block but having all the information you had (casting information) I'd have thought you would've done substantially more research before buying parts.
I'd think maybe an evaluation of the block by a shop before doing anything going forward would be wise. Maybe rethink the project and get a "consult" regarding the engine build.
