Fairly simple. The easiest way to remove it is by first removing the gas fill lid. Then remove the tail lights. The best way to remove the tail lights is by removing the backup lights and reaching behind and removing the bolts that hold the tail lights from the back. There are two bolts, both are 10mm. As soon as you have the two bolts out, you can put the light out. Unhook it from the plug and use the hole to get the farthest tail light out. Once all the tail lights and backup lights are out, you need to remove the 10 or so 7mm bolts that run along the top front edge of the bumper (right at the seam between the bumper and the rear of the car). There are also 4 or 5 - 10mm bolts on each side that run down the same seam. On the left side you will have to fight with the antenna. The right side is easy. Then remove the 4 bolts that bolt the cover to the inner fender well. Make sure to unplug the side marker lights. Finally, go get someone. Have them hold the bumper cover. Remove the two bolts that are holding the back of the license plate brackets to the back of the car. The cover should come off after that. I just did this 2 weeks ago. Takes about 1 -1.5 hours to remove it.

I hope you have long and skinny arms. That is half the battle.

"fairly simple" by procedure only, carrying it out is the hard part. I spent a few hours getting mine off. I am 6'-1" 195lbs, so Im not really heavy or thin, and I think I have a good reach. When I was done my arms looked like I was in a serious cat fight. Half my bolts broke when I tried to remove them ( although that probably made it easier). It was a royal PITA for sure. If you have any friends that are 6-5 120lbs get them to help. I dread putting it back on when I get done painting.

I'm 6'4" and 215lbs. I never said that it was easy. Just simple, no complicated disassembly, just straight forward...remove the bolts and off it comes. The hardest part for me was getting that antenna off and out of the way. That thing was a PITA.

Getting those tail lights out was not fun. My arms were all cut up too. They healed after a day or two.

I agree, I would not do it for fun, but it not the worse thing that I have had to do on my Vette.
