What does a "sys" code mean?
Hi,
Went for a short drive yesterday afternoon after installing a new radio in my '91 coupe. While out I suddenly started getting the "sys" code flashing
intermittantly in the dash board LCD. Car continued to drive OK, but I wasn't sure about this so I just drove it home.
I know there is supposed to be a way to check out these codes at home, but I don't know how. Has anyone else ever done this, and would you mind sharing how you did it?

I just posted a response a couple of days ago on this very topic (I'd hate to have to type it all over again).
Tells how to jumper the ALDL, count the flashes, then look up the code in a book.
Do a "Search" under my name and you should find it.

the sys code is a trouble fault in the CCM.
Jumping the ALDL is not going to find it - at least not jumping A to B.
I will check the pins and get back with you.

(2) Battery needs to be tested. This is a symptom of one on the way out.

I had this on a 96 LT4 for awhile. It started as first stated - it would flash 3 times and then repeat about every 20 sec. After I shut it down and then started it up again after an hour, it flashed SYS once and then stopped. It did thid periodically for about a month and then just went away altogether. Something is setting a code which appears to clear quickly. A dealer told me there was nothing they could read and to just drive it. The ONLY thing I've done is replace two bad horns.
