high HP cars step inside
I just curious, for those of you guys are running high hp cars. What are your oil grade?? 10w30 mobil 1 ? I am running mobil 1 5w30 now. Should I go with 10w30 next oil change? What are your recommandations?

Bruce I run 10-30 mobil one just because I have looser tolerance than a stock engine. I am reasonably sure I could run 5-30 without any problems as well. In the old days in my old 440 adn 426 hemi I used to run 50wt race oil. Now even the racers don't run it. The kid that runs a NHRA stock eliminator car runs 0 wt oil and when he goes for a record run he drains it down to 3 quarts!

To make a log story short... The only oil I use for any of my cars is Mobil 1, 10W30....That oil has saved my butt so I'll stick with it...Well worth the money...!

Re: high HP cars step inside (Bruce) 10w is good enough for me should be fine for you
I'd Stick with the 10w-30 From mobile 1. Its one of the foremost synthetic's
(its used from factory on all engines Vette's that is). Its also in my opinon looks like its almost thinner than most other 10w's I've seen around both competitors Syn./Nat. The only thing I'm intrested in trying besides Mobil 1 10w is Royal Purples vintage.

Re: high HP cars step inside (snaketr)
The vortech units are not self contained so people have told me to run a thicker oil. I run Mobil one 15-50. I am not sure if it is the right weight but it seems to work fine.

10w-30 M1...you might want to check this site out:
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
The readers digest version is that M1 is probably the best bang-for-the-buck oil you can run in your engine.

Checkout the oil filter test:

I think I'll pass on that Fram Tough Guard filter

Wow it is hard to believe that Fram filter beat Mobil 1 oil filter flow test. I have been Mobil 1 for a long time now. Maybe I should switch to K&N oil filter next time. K&N seems to flow about the same as Fram.

I USE 15-50 MOBIL 1 AND ITS NOT AN OIL IT'S A SYNTHIC.
K&N FILTER IS THE BEST .
THEIR ARE 3 TYPES OF OIL.
OIL
OIL SYNTHIC BLEND
AND
SYNTHIC DOES NOT BERAK DOWN UNDER A LOAD.

The oil guys seem to like M1 10w-40 for the LT1 engine...I'll probably try it on my next oil change along w/K&N filter...however, Redline will probably hold up a little better in my combination.
