tapping into light switch for 12v power?
I'm trying to find a 12v power source for my guages. My question is which wire do i need to splice into to get power w/ the lights on? :

Im trying to understand your question..Are you wanting your guages to only work when your lights are on? Or are you trying to get illumination when lights are on? If your looking for illumination turn lights on and probe wires at headlight switch with a multimeter and move your original dash illumination dimmer switch up and down and try tapping into wire that has current variances only while moveing dimmer swich up and down..this should give your gauges illumination that you control with dimmer switch. I've never actually done this but it should work and since no one else responded..well, I hope this helps..but like I said..I'm not sure I understand question. Good luck :)

On my '88 there is a Dk Grn wire from pin C of the headlight switch to the INST LP FUSE; from that fuse there is a Gry wire to the INST CLUSTER that powers the 4 halogen lamps.
I think tapping into the Gry wire would be the best deal; you might need to increase the fues size.

:iagree: with 65z01..if there's a fused circuit to the illumination on your car..it would certainly be better to tap in after the fuse rather than before to get the fuses protection
