I did a whole lot better than that. With my 92 auto, the best time I could get with 2.59 gears was 13.84. After a gear swap and no other changes, I now average about 13.3, and I've done as well as 13.169. YMMV.

I'm getting 13.2 with my 95 a4 with the 3.07's so you should do atleast 13.2 with 3.54's if ur a good driver.

I went from 13.37@102 with the stock torque converter and 2.59 gears.

With the 3.45's and 2800 stall I have so far gone a best of 12.70@105(Corsa was added this year).

That's almost 7 tenths and I know there is still more left.

Ads will claim 7 tenths, so real world I would say 4-5 tenths is very reasonable. Definately SOTP difference!!

Just out of curiosity, how much gas mileage is lost with low gear ratios. I’ve herd it is a significant loss if you do a lot of highway driving; but, I don’t know how true that is.

Could these results be expected of a L98 A4 or are we strictly talking about the LT1? I am looking at the exact same gear swap, but I have a 91.

Only a few MPG, if you're a lead-foot and you slow down some (see various gear calculators) to get the same RPM as before you'll get better gas mileage. We did the math somewhere...

From what I hear no, gains that much from a gear swap are only on the lt1 cars. If you do a gear swap in your l98 go with 3.07s and if you already have them keep um.

Just gotta drive the car hard, the harder you drive, the faster she goes, if you look at my post, you'll see I went 13.37 completely stock.

I have a 94 and went with the 3.54's. SOTP difference is awesome!! At 75 mph, it turns 2500 rpm and registers 21.7 mpg average. Gas mileage goes up a little if you keep it around 65mph. One thing I did notice is the A/C cools alot better driving around. I attribute it to more rpm's being turned keeps the compressor going a little better.

I absolutely agree with keeping the 3.07s in a L98. i had 3.54's in and just took them out. Unless you have a mini ram the L98 runs out of steam around 4800 RPMs. The best time I ran with my 2.59s (auto and boltons) was 13.54 @101 (granted this was one good run). Normally I ran around 13.8 and 99.8. With the 3.54 gears I ran 13.7s at 98 mph. I lost 4 mpg on the highway, and completely destroyed the 700R4. A lot of people will tell you to go 3.54 ot 3.73 because it worked good in their Nova or Chevelle. The wheel size factors in here and the 3.07's are good gears for the L98.
I have a set of percision gears 3.54 gears for the dana 36 that were used only about a 1000 mi and 6 runs down the track. The gears were installed and uninstalled by a GM Corvette team mechanic. He said they were some of the best gears he had seen. They would work good with an LT1 with Dana 36. They will not fit a Dana 44 case.

What kind of numbers are you putting up with the 3.07's
