Default On the road again .....

Feels good to put the '86 back together and running again. Finished what I guess you can call mods, but it isnt any faster. Took me almost 6 weeks to complete since I only tinkered with it for about an hour a day.

1. D36 to D44 swap
2. Rear Poly bushings
3. U-joints
4. Header gaskets
5. Front Z51 air dam
6. Adjusted Emergency Brakes

Thanks to Okinawa86vette for the frequent IM consultations, 85WhiteZ51 for benching pressing the D36 and D44 into place, and Danno85 for the replacement dog bones and Z51 rear sping.

The Tech Tips from Ski and Scorp on the D44 swap and U-joint replacements were a huge help too.

Cant tell much of a difference since I havent driven it in 6 weeks, but the peace of mind helps.

This will only work if you have an 84-87. I believe they changed the E-brake from '88 on.

The drum brake in the rear rotor is for the E-brake on the rear rotor/drum for the '86. You will notice a small hole in the drum face. Simply line up that hole around the 12 o'clock position until you see the teeth from the adjustment gear. Slide a flathead screw driver into the hole. If memory serves me, you slowly turn that gear upwards (2-3 times) to spread out the drum pad lining. Using my experience from working on drum brakes and other cars, I did this with the adjustment gear until there was a real light drag on the rotor when you turn it by hand. This will allow the E-brake to fully engage when applied and not interfere with normal driving when disengaged.

Hope that helps.
