I need another set of wheels for my '93. I need the Grand Sport offset and backspacing to fit over my front brakes. AFS sells replica versions at a great price (AFSwheels.com), about 1/2 of what they sell for at Mid-America Designs.

I plan to use them on the track, so quality is extremely important. I don't care what they look like, but I don't want them failing at 120 mph after they get hot.

Anyone know anyone who has had experience with them?

And lastly, are the versions offered by Mid-America actual OEM wheels, or are they replicas as well?

Thanks!

There are a lot of hard runners on this forum with the AFS rims, and I've yet to hear one bad word about them. Just my two cents.

If you can get the a-maolds they are both lighter & stronger.

A set of forged wheels would be lighter still. My front 335/18 tire/wheel combo is lighter than the stock 255/17 tire/wheels!

I know the real A-molds are superior, but where can I get some? They're getting harder and harder to find...

Team Parts 308-632-2173 for GS wheels OEM 1300 or less maybe. Good people ask for Chris Slack. Never heard anything bad about AFS. I raced my C5 with the GS wheels and hit a hole at 80+ thought it was over. No damage

The AFS and other knock offs get their strength through sheer mass. They are heavy castings. The Amolds only weigh in at ~ 20# for the 9 1/2's and 21# for the 11's. They are strong and light. These wheels have been raced for about ten years, and continue to be in use today in spite of the fact that some very reasonable high quality three piece forged wheels are out there now. (CCW's for ~$1800/ set) You can get the Amold's for the price John mentioned. Chris is a first class guy and will do what he says he will do.
