Someone said I need to get a custom one for it since its tied in to the speakers or something. Is there a cd/cassette combo I could get and still use my bose speakers? How much would one cost?

Ice,
you can put in a year 2000 CD deck in there. I know because I did it in my 88. I had taken the factory AM/FM CD out of my new truck and put it in my 88 vette. If you have the Bose factory system, all you will need is a Bose interface, wire harness and thats it. It will be a tight fit, but can be done easy. If you look at the new vettes, the stero is the same. I just took mine out to go aftermarket. If you need help with this just e-mail me or post and I will walk you threw it.
Hope this helps

It depends ...
If you have the more expensive Delco/Bose stereo in the Corvette it is a bit more difficult. That setup uses one amplifier at each speaker. You should replace the speakers and use new speaker wires to the head unit.
If you have the standard stereo, no problem! Just replace the head unit.

What sizes are the speakers with the bose?
I have an '88 I just got a few weeks ago and the head unit was blown, I'm looking into replacing the stereo at some point so I can have a radio again.
Anyone have wiring diagrams or anything else usefull?

Re: (IceDigger)
There is an adapter you can buy that will allow you to hook up RCA outs to your BOSE powered speakers. I purchased the adapter two years ago, and slapped in a panasonic CD changer. I'm real pleased with how the adapter works. It's not cheap but it allows you to use ANY stereo with your bose speakers. I don't have the name of the adapter with me. If you email me I'll dig the name out of the file and send it to you this weekend. I bought the adapter on the net.

Re: (IceDigger)
i wish there was a puking smilie for this ;)
i would not even consider reusing your super crappy bose speakers.
get a nice aftermarket CD unit and replace your rear speakers with 6x9's
THey will sound so good you wont want to ever go back to the bose junk again.
Most new head units start at 45watts and go on up, which is plenty loud/powerful enough. Also, you can add speakers in the dash, and replace the door speakers. This can all be done for pretty cheap and the wiring all takes about 30mins to do.. its simple...
email me if you have Q's or need help...
