I have a 1990 automatic w/3.07 gears. Car rarely goes to track...(like maybe once or twice a year) and is a daily driver. So we are primarily talking street racer here. (Light to light)

I want to get a good one...that will allow faster 1/4 miles but not hurt driveability cause I am on the highway everyday.

Vigilante?....is this overkill..? seeing I am not a track racer....just looking for opinions...I want to change it out next spring....and don’t want to have to go through this again, so am just trying to gather as much information as I can now.

What is the stock stall speed?....like 2200?

I like the car now....and don’t want it to feel loser or more sluggish especially off the line.....

sorry just this thing is new to me and Iam still not quite sure on all the stall speeds and what they actually translate to as far as feel goes....I understand...about it filling and turning at a certain rpm but like I said....how that translates to how the car feels.....I have not idea....never been in a vette with a vigilante or performance converter.......wish there was someone around here in Western MA.....

well let the comments begin..thanks guys

The Vigilante is definitly the way to go! It is an awesome converter. My suggestion would be for a 2600 RPM stall converter, but the guys at PI know volumes more about conveters than I do. Typically, I have my customer call PI and get that side of things worked out and order it from me. I think it works best for the customer...

Jeff, The Vigilante converter is the way to go. The Vig. is a very tight converter and act's just as good or even better than the stock converter at highway speed's. Untill you stomp it you will not even think that is is a higher stall.UNTILL YOU STOMP IT . A 9" multi disc lock-up with as Chris suggested 2600 stall will work out NICE ! Try it . You will like it.

The last Vig. bought was 1000. It was for a turbo car and was a 7disc lock-up (even more expensive). Good guess for a Chev. converter would be 7-800. A really good converter is expensive. But WELL worth it. Do not let the price scare you off. HTH
