Thay have a lot more hp from the factory than you do, 205hp vs 345hp ... so it shouldn't have been close.

Seems like my gas mileage actually went up with those modifications though, so I'm not totally mad

Yours looks better and will not depreciate as fast as his...in ten years, his will be crap and yours still in the Blue Book..

Is it working???

What can we say other than he has a lot more horsepower than you do? My brother has a 99 Z-28 auto that he seems to think can take me, the problem is he won't go out to the track and prove it.

He has gotten a little quieter since I got my cam and such. I can't wait to get it dyno'd again. That'll really shut him up.

Shayne, that is too true

Mine works almost 100%
Still need to get the ebrake replaced though, and a couple other minor things...

Icedigger,
I hate to say it, but the LS1 motor is one of the best motor in existence right now! GM really pulled a rabbit out of their hat on this one.

A 2000/2001 LS1 Camaro is more than capable of running in the very low 13's.

And with a few mods they are in the 12's easily.

As someone else said, go for short distances. Your torque will help you hang with them for about 100'. After that the L83 will be toast against an LS1. Look for deserted streets with stoplights that are close togrther. Not that I would ever race on a public road.

Alot of the Camaro/Firebird guys are real motorheads too, many of the same mods we put into our Vette's. Around here we have lots of guys running N2O and superchargers. The stock ones are a threat too.

If those are your only mods, of course he did! Even though the Z is heavier it builds way more HP.

Two years ago my "modified" LB9 IROC beat a bone stock (apparently) '86 Vette. At that time the IROC was running high 14s on a warm day.

When I baselined my '88 Vette it ran mid 14s on a warm day last Fall. It now runs mid 13s in similar weather. It just takes a sound recipe and $$.

If you want to go faster you're getting a proven recipe (you've got mail).

For now if you want to win, bracket race.

LS1 Z-28's are advertised at 310 HP, C5's are 345 HP. Is Chevy lo-balling the Z-28 specs?

IceDigger, don't feel bad. Your Vette is rare compared to his F-Body, but you can mod your 84 if you want to. A nice ZZ4 will wake up your Vette

Compare apples to apples!! Have him run a 2000/2001 vette, then see who is faster
'84 'vettes outran '84 Z-28s.
Or, if your like me, I run 'em just as we hook around the clover leaves on the highway.
He might be fast straight, but he won't pull on the turns with a Z51 '84

You can also take solice in the fact that you have a (1) year made car:Makes it original!

Big deal, when people ask you what you drive, you say "a Vette". He can only say his is a Camaro. Who do you think gets more looks on the street? You! Feel Better?

~No flame towards Z28 owners whatsoever! Just tryin to make him feel better.~
