No one I know has been able to answer this for me, maybe someone here will know. My car is a '93 and does not have the Mobil 1 Sticker under the hood(directly on the hood) near the nose of the car- yet, a friend also has a '93 and his does have the sticker. There is no residue or any marks that would ever indicate that it was there at one time. I have seen other '93s with it as well, but mine is lacking. Any explanations?

The early 93 did not have the Mobil 1 emblem under the hood. Yours must be an early 93. About mid year they started putting the Mobil 1 emblem on.

My ruby is the same, it does not have the sticker. Last year at carlisle I noticed that some rubies had the mobil 1 sticker, some did not, and some had the bowling green sticker. After asking around some I spoke with the President of the 40th registry and he explained the following--
Basically the factory was applying the bowling green sticker to the cars and they ran out of them before the mobil 1 stickers came in. so there is a gap of cars that have no sticker. he also said that if your car has the bowling green sticker 1 of 2 things happened. 1. it was an early build date and the bowling green stickers were still being put on. or 2. after the gap of no stickers being put on the factory went to the mobil sitcker but as they started this they found a box of the bowling green stickers that they used also, until they were used up.. so in the end the fact that you have no sticker is probably due to the build date being in that gap.. Mine is a september 92 build and it does not have either..
sorry for the lengthy reply

That is a very interesting explanation Ruby6spd., however, I went and checked the door tag, and the car was built in Nov. 1992. That actually seems a bit late in the production year don't you think? I guess I'm still a little confused about this sticker business.
And when you say "Bowling Green Sticker", are you referring to the door stickers - round, white in color, with a red Vette on them? Don't mean to sound ignorant, but I am sort of new to this. Thank you in advance for any additional clarification.

Look under your rear bumber cover, If it is black honey comb material it is consider an early 93, If it looks like white foam, it is a Late 93.

Thank You VERY much for clearing this up for me Ruby6spd and Mikez40....you guys really know your stuff! After going over the posts once more, I now understand why I am lacking the Mobile 1 sticker. The Bowling Green Emblem that you speak of is also lacking. The sequence number on this particular car is #06091, so as you said, it is a rather early production. Thanks again for this helpful info./clarification, it is greatly appreciated.

It's not that the sticker means alot to me, it's the fact that I had seen some cars with and some without and was puzzled as to why. Technically, it would not be "correct" for me to add this sticker to my car, as there were none available at the time of production. If someone were to split hairs and check the sequence number/build date (and was also aware of the time span of unavailable stickers at the factory) they would know that the sticker really is not "correct". Is it a big deal? Not really. Just one of those little "purist" things, that's all.
