What are the quietest mufflers? Preferably with a center single in, and dual out.

Would a GM Stock be the way to go?

Im looking for the same thing. Ill be running a 383 with an electronic cutout, and with headers I hear no back pressure is necessary, so for performance I can just close off the rest of the exhaust, otherwise I can have a nice quite ride. Thoughts...??

My vote would be the stock GM mufflers.

I called MAD about this quietness business a couple of years ago, trying to get a pair of really quiet ones.

Their Tech Dept said Super Turbos are quiet: THEY'RE NOT. Stuffing a baseball size ball of aluminum foil up one of the tips makes them liveable though.

They told me that the Ultra Flows are louder that Super Turbos, but I haven't tried/heard them.

Walker has a new(er) line out, Quiet Flows, that flow 35% more than stock and are supposed to have their "Quiet Flow Technology" and miles and miles of fiberglass strands inside.

They are supposed to be really quiet, so I'm gonna try them in a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps.

Jake

I've gone thru so many mufflers it's just not funny anymore. The quietest muffler I have ever found is the Walker Dynomax Hemi Turbo. The "can" is 20 inches long. It's not fancy or even good looking but it flows a ton and is very quiet. I used to run them with my 350 heads, cam, no cat, dual exh, muffler setup. I had to run those just to silence the car cause it would attract too much attention driving thru Waikiki. In a different configuration with the stock resonator in place the car was quieter (is that a word?) than stock. There are a few pics on my Vette page of how they hung
