I have been polishing and waxing by hand for years w/ very good results using Meguiars wax and recntly tried Zaino polish. Who has made the switch to using an orbital buffer and is it realy that much better? Do you use it to apply as well as take off the material?
Thnx,

When I waxed my car a few weeks ago, I used an Orbital polisher.... We used it to apply and remove the compounds.... Just changed the covers (don't want to use the same one for applying and removing)..

Do you let the polish dry and if so how long.
I find if you dont let it sit very long it comes better, especially after MANY coats.

If your finish is in decent shape I would definitly go with the hand polish/wax. If your finish needs some work and requires a machine the only way to go is a standard high-speed buffer. This will get much deeper into the oxidized layers of paint than an orbital. I caution though that if you aren't experienced with a high speed buffer you my want to take it to a pro, as they can do damage due to the high rpm's. But in a word, men use buffers and girls use orbitals
