OK, here's the deal, I have a 94 automatic (coupe) K&N w/ open lid, HPP, Dana 36 with 3.73's, Flowmaster cat back exhaust, and Nitto 555 drag radials. Keep in mind that I have a stock torque converter. Should I just put it in D, turn asr off and mash the gas pedal? Or should I bring the RPM's up a little by power braking before launching??? Can someone give me the best advice? Step by step woud be best

Step by Step:
1. Roll around the water box.
2. Burn the tires until you see smoke in your rear view mirror and then cound at least another 3 seconds(you want to start in First and go to second).
3. Put in first gear.
4. do not rev the motor. The converter will flash higher if you do not pre-load it.
when the second amber lights up, hit the gas!!!
Merry Christmas and good luck,

I like to do a little dry burn out (streets), stage up and bring RPM up to about 800-900. That way I preload the drive train and still get a nice flash from the stock TC.
In my IROC with DRs I prefer to roll through the water box and realy smoke em up.
Try several launches wet and then dry to see what works best for you (plus it's fun to gen a big cloud, legally).
As a word of caution, with a Dana 36 and 3.73s you likely don't want a high stall TC. I've seen a 36 come apart from hard launches (1.7x 60' times) with a similar setup and a performance TC.

I'll agree with Jim on this one, you don't want to get the revs up too high. I've seen peopel do what Tay Jay described and all they get is left at the line because they are spinning.
Leave it in "D" or 3, not "OD". Let it shift itself(more consistent).

I done every way there is and I found it best to come off at a dead idle. Some guys (Panuzzo) like to take the slack out of the drive line and bring rev up a few notches, it a little easier on the rear, 1/2 shafts and drive shift but I found the best way is to floor it off a dead idle.
