How are the prototypes working? Any problems? Still like them? Mine is still on back order since June. Has anyone gotten theirs yet that ordered through Summit or Barnett?~~~

Joe, I talked to Summit last week. They had the 26th of July down as when they were getting them. Barnett had no idea when they were coming in. Hopefully it will be at the same time as Summit. Maybe we'll get them soon!

Tony,
Thanks for the info.
I just sent an E to Chris to see if he's got a firm date Hurst will be shipping to retailers.
If he doesn't reply here, I will, as soon as I hear something back.

Personally I think the whole thing is a joke. Right now I wouldn't use one if it were free. Just MY view on the thing though.

89vette- I directly offered you an early unit a couple months back and you weren't interested. I, and those who have this shifter already, can assure you that it is quite real, and that you won't find a better shifter. At $125 it is a hell of a deal. Stop by a retailer next week if you need proof.

It's finally here! The Hurst C4 shifters are done and heading out the door to retailers. I would expect the retailers to get them to your doors around the end of next week. Everyone that gets one, please reply personally or publicly with your feedback upon installation.

Here are the installation instructions:

http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gt1479b/Page%2021.pdf

http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gt1479b/Page%2031.pdf

http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gt1479b/Page%2041.pdf

You can place orders immediately at most retailers. Summit's price is $125
and Barnett Performance in Atlanta has it for $120 + $5 handling (free
shipping). Barnett can be reached at 800-533-1320.

Chris, thanks for the info. I've been using Hurst shifters since 1964. I've heard a few complaints about the Ripper, so that's why I went with the Hurst. It was a great product years ago for rowing through the gears, so I have to try it now. From everything I've seen on this board in earlier post, it's a quality product and does what it's suppose to do. Chris, thanks again for the effort and time you've put into this product and the shipping info. I will post back when install is done. ~~~

The shifter will be worth it. I've had mine for a month and love it.

Hey Folks,

I have had mine for around two months and it is great. NO question what so ever that it is far superior to STOCK. Ihave put close to 3,000 miles on the car since it was put in and its quality is extra ordinary. I have added a FLAMEBALL shifter and love the set up. It does not shake rattle or roll, and feels as good as 3,000 miles ago.
As for comparing it to B&M I can't give a direct comparision because I have not driven one with a B&M, However some who have used the B&M have driven mine and said it is better. Not trying to start a flame here, just opinions.
89 vette I can understand the frustration, but if you can get it from ZRchris now I say do it, you will be glad you did. I assure it is real and if anyone wants to test drive mine here in Atlanta just e mail me, and we see if we can hook up.

I'm sorry on the first resonse I was in a hurry taking a break from a school project and replied.

I agree with Gonzo. This thing rocks. Honestly I despised the ZF after driving a B&M ripper shifted Z28 T56 daily. The Hurst on my ZF changed my outlook on the ZF. It is that good.

I knew Chris before he bought the B&M and decided to design his own. It has been a long road but will be on the market soon. I remember talking to Chris when he was machining his own shifter. Then shifting his car and wanting one. So I've been waiting a long time as well, and it was worth it. Chris doesn't want any crap shipped out, and has called to make sure I'm happy. You will be getting a quality product.

Anyone who has ordered a Hurst shifter from Barnett Perf. for their ZF tranny, they're in. They are shipping mine today, but I'd call them just to make sure they know to ship yours. ~~~

Chris installed the prototype on my 90...I LOVE it....my travel has been significantly reduced....I used to hit my knuckles on dash going from 2d to 3d...now it's not even close. The shifter is tight and close....I don't think you can go wrong waiting for it.....
