I have an extended warranty on my Vette and it states that modifications to the engine or drivetrain will void my warranty. Nothing is listed as to what a "modification" might be. I simply plan on getting some NGK plugs and Magnecor wires (8.5mm). I'm wondering if this is grounds for a "modification" to the engine. I can see them bitching about this when an engine problem kicks in. I have about 1.5 years left on it and I can't wait that long. Any input from members with good or bad experiences related to this??

sounds like you are pretty locked in...
I don't know if those items would constitute a "modification"... depends on how they define modificiation. If a mod is anything that deviates from factory spec, then yes, but if a mod is anything that enhances performance then no.
I know for a fact that a number of mods will not void FACTORY warantees. SEMA has made sure of that... for a while back in the early 90s, it was quite common for a dealership to cancel your warrentee if you installed an aftermarket stereo or alarm... SEMA fought this and won...
there are any number of reasons why I don't dig after market warrentees... they usually cost WAY too much... and then don't cover you when you really want them too...
As far as plugs and wires... logic says you're safe... but, after working for the Delaware Department of Justice for the last 3 years, I have learned one thing - Law is not logical!!!!!!

if it were me, and all i was going to do is install new plugs and wires, i would call first and verify (try to get it in writing) what constitutes a modification. common sense tells me that plugs and wires are not a modification, i bet they are talking suspension mods and internal engine mods, and stuff like nitrous, blowers and turbos!
my bet is you are safe.....but it's better to be truly safe than sorry.....so give them a call.

plugs will not void your warranty unless they are plugs that are wrong for you car i would think, as for wires these are also parts that should be routinely replced at intervals to ensure proper functionality of the car, it should be in a schedule of maintanance in your owners manual or a chevy shop manual for yourn car somehwere. goodluck with it!
