All right, I posed this question earlier, and after some looking it does not appear to be the suspension as I originally thought.

When going over bumps, the front end of the car shakes and rattles, producing the worst noises ever, almost like the car is falling apart. It is not confidence inspiring. On first glance, I noticed that the front air dam had a bolt missing, so I removed the center piece to see if that did anything.

It didn't. The rattle is still there. When the car is stopped and you the top of the wheel well directly in front of either front tire, you can hear the vibration. It sounds as if something is loose somewhere, but I couldnt find anything on the top side. It's definitely coming from something in front of the tires, and its not the hood. Anyone have any idea?

I had a rattle in the left front wheel area. I found the lower shock bolts were both lose. I tightened them and the rattle was gone. You might check it. Hope your problem is this simple. Good luck.

It will overheat without the air dam you removed.

I'd have to guess that either your disc brake pads are loose in the calipers and rattling or you have an issue with the ends of the front sway bar.

Hmmmm, swaybar...interesting. I am unfamiliar with suspension, can you give me an idea of where it is located?

if your wheel bearing are in really bad shape you get some terrible rattling over bumps...take it from experience
