Pete, I'm home now and my hubby worked on the Ruby over the weekend. He replaced the hydralyic clutch fluid. Now I have to tell you that before the pedal was very soft (always since we bought it at the end of may) But the clutch on our 85 is very stiff, so when Joe bled and refilled he said he kept adding until it was stiff.
So there's the updaye and here are my questions.
1) On a 93, should the clutch be fairly stiff?
2) You said a bleed MIGHT fix the problem, how will we know?
THANKS THANKS THANKS as always for your knowledge and assistance.

Ok, I just got off the phone with him and he said he kept filling nd filling the fluid and the clutch would not stiffen up. But he said finally he "tightened the nut" and then it was stiff after that and he thought that was weird.

Well, I'm assuming that it is one of the bleeding nuts. Yeah, you'd have to close those before you'd ever get a "firm" pedal. Otherwise you'd just be shooting brake fluid out of them when you hit the pedal.

oh, that would make sense, lol! Honestly my husband should have known that. Is that different than bleeding brakes? He's very smart and has a propensity to understand all things mechanical and electronic, so I am suprised that he didn't know that.
BTW Scorp, wanna hear something funny? Remember how I used to tell you guys how he hated working on the 85 and was always complaining when it needed to go in the shop? This last time, HE paid to have the work done (valvesprings) because I couldn't yet afford it and he didn't want the car to sit and be broken down and not be driven He even went out and bought all the stuff to make a bypass switch for the secondary fan WITHOUT ME ASKING HIM TO!!! BTW, he installed the fan switch in about 2 hours and it works perfect

Ok, Joe's annoyed that I made it sounds like he didn't know that you had to tighten the valve before the clutch would be stiff. WELL EXCUSE ME!
BTW, we drove around a little and it seems to be going into gear really easily and the clutch is soft compared to the 85.
OH, and he wants to know "can anyone describe the companants internally to the transmission that the slave cylinder on the hydralic clutch system connect to?"

thrills, ive driven both the 4+3 and the 6 speed too, and every 6 speed vette ive drove, the clutch seems way softer than the older C4 clutches, so what your describing sounds normal. you arent having any other problems other than the soft feel are you?
