Default SLP Siamesed Runners $249.99 is it worth it?

I found these brand new on SLP's site...SLP's claiming 20 extra horses over stock with nothing else....whats everybody's thought on these? Worth it or not?

Only thing Iam skeptical on is like....1. Its SLP's site so they are going to be bias. 2. They never claim where the 20 hp is at (if its achieved after 5000 rpm's then these are pretty much useless to me) and 3. What kinda torque losses are we talking bout.

Thanks Guys
jeff

PS....was thinking on doing these plus porting the plenum plus maybe a 52mm tb?

They will be very similar to my siamese intake base with stock runners, i.e. cost around 6chp at 2,000rpm and add around 20chp just above 5,000rpm.

It won't hurt to port/polish the plemun though you likely won't see any gain. Nor will you see any gain from a 52mm TB till you do more air flow mods.

It only cost you 6 horse down low? What about torque?

I ran those SLP runners when I had a stock 350 tpi in my car. I felt like they gave up alot of torque. The car felt slower. I think the best runners are the TPIS/AS&M big tube runners.

Forget the 52mm TB unless you increase air in at the real bottleneck by getting a TPIS Big mouth or Accel SR base manifold. Even then a larger TB is questionable.

As for the runners, I wouldn't siamese squat. Get yourself either the AS&M (best of the best) or Accel large tube runners. SLP's are considered dogs. Porting & polishing your stock plenum is worth a few ponies, provided the rest of the intake is upgraded as discussed; the manifold is critical to the whole deal.

I saw your mod list, and really you should start with exhaust by getting a set of headers....then take care of the intake; this is a trueism for the L98.

Are you planning on all-out ported heads and a good cam? If not, you might as well leave everything alone.

Good luck!
