Has anyone installed one of these? I assume that with the shorter throw will also come increased shift effort . I'm wondering how much? Are you happy with it? Inquiring minds want to know.

i am interest as well, i just received my short throw kit from ecker's a few days back......
i know scorp has them in his car.......i hope it doesnt take more effort then i allready does.
I have a short throw kit I took off when I went to the ZF if you are interested, will let it go cheap.
It is better, period. The extra effort is imperceptible as far as I was concerned.
Regardless, after the firts several times you shift, you will forget the "old" shift effort, at least I did and will be pelased wtih the reduced shift stroke distance.

That's what is advertised, but it's a lie.
It'll reduce your throw from 7" to 5.5"
In order for them to reduce your throw nearly in half, they'd have to be nearly have the stock length, and they're not.
Nonetheless, it's still a little better than stock. The hardest part is fine tuning the neutral alignment. If your shifter is tough to move as is, I'd recommend pulling it out and cleaning it up (the lower dust boot fails and it fills with dirt and grime. Also check your tranny gear oil.
They are easily the BEST $20 I have ever spent on my car. If powershifting is your thing (it is mine) these allow you to do it much easier. Even if it isn't the time off the throttle is much less for you.

Yeah. Also, the holes on mine were too big, and slipped on the shift rods no matter how much I tightened them. So I wacked the crap out of em with a ball peen hammer to shrink em a bit.
Anyone claiming any sort of monumental improvement in the shifting is smoking the good stuff. Its a good thing they don't cost more than $20.
They key to quick shifts lies more in footwork than gear shifter. If you can't get thet clutch pedal depressed quick enough and release it quick enough, a short throw shifter will not help you.

Ahh, but if your clutch work is faster than the shifter it sure will.
