Default Piecing back together a hacked up 85's blower/AC: the journey begins

Hi, against better judgment I have taken on a hacked up 'project' as my first C4 and now begin on the clean up. It's not driving at the moment as the power steering took a dump in the driveway right after I got it home. Parts are on order!

Started poking around a bit to assess what I'm in for. Boy is the wiring an absolute mess! Some notable mentions, after market stereo power wire wedged into the fuse box with a fuse, rats nest behind the analog gauges (yep, no digital dash), cut wires, splices here and there, power hatch disabled from the fuse block because someone had added a jumper wire to feed the wiper circuit, partially deleted AC — lines, compressor and some wiring removed (I think I have most of the lines) and a 5.7 LS in place of the L98. I'll be breaking it up into mini projects to keep on track and not get overwhelmed and let it sit too long. Hope to get it road legal soon. I could just live without aircon (it gets hot here), put the dash back in and try to forget about the tangled mess beneath, but that's not me.

So, I thought I'd start with the blower. Currently it only works on the lower fan speeds. Figured it would be a good way to learn the setup before tackling the AC. Read as much as I could find here and thought (hoped) it could be as simple as a relay. Found the relay easily, just sitting right in front of the blower. Popped it out and checked it on the bench, works perfectly. So that leads me to go on a hunt for the fusible link. Not knowing these cars and still yet to receive my FSM, I started trying to figure out the where the link *should* actually be located. On the diagram I have here that I found on the web it's listed as 3 RED FUSIBLE LINK E.

Well I can't seem to find where the link is, but I did find that the hot wire for the high speed doesn't go anywhere, that would explain the no voltage. Someone had just shoved it into this black line with a rubber tip (bonus points if you can tell me what's on the other end of it):

The ground was also bolted to the inner A pillar brace bolt. I don't think it's meant to go there as you couldn't really torque down the bolt properly. I read on here somewhere that rec torque on car with the X brace is 46 ft. lbs which I guess would be similar to this brace, no way this cheap connector wouldn't survive.

And there is a pink wire that shares the connector that is also cut:

Can anyone share some photos of what it all *should* look like?

What is the physical path of the hot and the ground/which part of the harness *should* they follow?

Where is this pink wire meant to go to too?

This is the list of grounds I managed to put together:

G100-LH Rear Of Engine, Above Oil Filter
G101-Near RH Side Of Battery, On Frame
G103-LH Front Of Engine, Above Alternator
G115-On Frame, Behind LH Park/Turn Lamp
G116-On Frame, Behind RH Park/Turn Lamp
G140-Lower LH Rear Of Engine

I'm guessing G116 for ground seem logical?

Bonus points if you can share some info/photos of the AC wring too!

I found this tucked away which has a diode poking out. Haven't dug into it yet though. Seems to disappear behind the block and into the firewall.

*also might be worth pointing out that I'm not a resident of America so I can't just rock up at a junkyard and start pulling parts. These cars are pretty rare here*
