368 porting - dyno results
Finally got back on the dyno to see the results of my latest mods. My original thread about this project is now in the archives: click here Here are the dyno sheets showing before and after: The first one is with the additional intake port work and underdrive pulleys on the alternator and water pump. The second dyno graph is the same as above only with some prom tuning. I'm pretty happy with the results overall, the peak numbers are just awesome. I did lose some midrange torque however so it would appear that I traded some torque for upper end with my aggressive port work. Not sure how much of the gain is the port work and how much is the U-drive pulleys. Hopefully someone will test just the pulleys so we'll know. All in all average HP is up and in the 5500-7500rpm range where the engine will be during serious driving it's way up. I think there is still more power to be had, believe it or not most of the tuning involved removing timing from the stock timing curve?! We were getting a good deal of knock retard and finally eliminated it by removing 1-2 degrees, pretty much across the board. Next up will be a colder thermostat, we actually saw a peak of 484rwhp on the first pull after lunch. Seems like the engine likes running a bit cooler. With coolant temps around 195F the car was consistantly putting down 477-478rwhp. Anyhow thats it for now, a big thanks to dyno owner and forum member TJ Wong for all the help today.

Tom is a great tuner on anything. LS1, L98, LT1 and LT5. Couldn't ask for anything more.

What cruising temps do you actually see in the CC readout with the 160 stat? I typically see 88-92C with my 180 stat.

Those are some power numbers for a 368.
Have you put enough miles on to see the water and oil temp differences, if any, with the larger water pump pulley. If so what are the results. What is the reduction percentage? Im very interested in any info regarding this.

I cruise at oil temps of 167F, and coolant varies between 168-174F. Perfect temps for MAX power!

I sent him a complete 95 engine in Feb, but due to hurricane issues, he wont start till April/May. Im not in a hurry anyway. Im only interested in quality. No down time since this is an extra engine.

I have the same underdrive pulleys on my 415 - with the 160 stat, she has never run cooler - only in severe heat in stop/go traffic does it get to 195F, then both fans come on to pull it down to 180F, and turn off again.

Im considering an ATI damper that reduces all accessories by 35%.
My radiator and oil cooler is a Fluidyne setup similar to what some SCCA World Challenge cars use. Its a 3 row unit, but it also come 4 row.
