Default Second Tach?

Brian had a question earlier that reminded me of something I have been thinking about.

Is is possible with the LT5 to have a second tach, say a mini Autometer. They make one now, about 2 1/16 that will fit one of their pods that has a small shift light. It is the light I wish I had.

On the few occassions I drive really aggressively, I find it hard to watch the tach.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Do you mean the type of tach that most pro street cars run? If so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to hook one up.

I have also been pondering another tach among other additional instrumentation... In other words... another separate set of gauges that include oil pressure, oil temp, engine temp, trans temp, and diff temp all in DIGITAL format... I truly miss the digital dash from my 84 & 88 models... Some might find that a bit repulsive due to the "atari" look of those dashboards... You have to admit the functionality was superior in certain ways though... You could monitor temperature and pressure differences almost immiediatly, depending upon their overall accuracy and where the sending sensors were located.
The 90 and up dash does have a much more refined look to it... however... the vagueness of gauges is not a plus factor in my mind with a motor such as our tough but sensitive LT-5's...

I used to know some of the Autometer folks when I was doing so much with my old Cobra. They gave me lots of help. Next week, I will call and discuss these issues with them.

I'll get model number's etc, and find if there are any issues specific to the LT5 and or the C4, and in particular, how to keep any added instrument from affecting the stock one.

I'll post again.

One of our Registry members in Florida has an awesome 40th Anniversary ZR-1 that has a full set of Autometer gauges, including a 5" tach.
