Default 1st ZR-1

Hello Everyone,

After looking for the "right" ZR-1 for me, finally found my 1990 at BK Vette in Sioux Falls S.D. in late Sep.(I would highly recommend Barry, who owns BK Vette). It's Polo Green Met. and had just under 20 k miles when I picked it up. It now has 20,290 miles and is tucked away for the Iowa winter. If we get a dry sunny day in the 40's, no doubt it will get a little workout. The ZR-1 is simply awesome (and I don't even like the word). Have been picking up some great info on the forum and am looking forward to learning more.

Congrats on the new ride Larry, don't forget to start her up a couple times a month during the winter to keep the old battery charged up.

Hi Larry, we met at that autocross the day you bought the car. You did a great job driving especially in an unfamilair car. That is one sweet ride like all the cars BK sells. Enjoy.

Larry, may I ask how much you paid for your new ZR1? I only ask because i'm considering buying a 90 ZR1 with low miles and am trying to gauge pricing for ZR1's under 20-k miles. Thanks!

Jay:

The current market for '90s is fairly saturated. At least 10 90-91's on eBay right now plus two Lingenfelter ZR1's on eBay right now for $30 & $35k respectively.
You should expect to pay somewhere in the mid to low $20k's for a really good condition common color/interior '90 with around 20k miles. (Red/Red, Red/Saddle, Black/Black, etc.)
The price will go up if it a low production number color/interior combo, or was celebrity owned with a verifiable history.
If it's a garage queen with the original plastic wrapping expect to pay (a lot) more, but be very careful when considering a "zero mile" museum piece, unless that is exactly what you want. A 16 year old car that has never been driven will tend to be a very fussy car, a lot will depend on how it was stored and maintained over the last almost 2 decades.

Good luck!
Let us know how it works out.

Larry:

Welcome to the Brotherhood.
Congrats on the purchase.
I'm a little partial to the '90s myself. I've had mine now for almost 2 years.
It's the only year for the "Salad Shooter" wheels, the front bumper, the thin black body side molding, and the "FULL POWER" light on the DIC.
Some say that our 90's perform a little better than the others because the '90s are lighter than the later models.

Nice choice, you will love the ZR-1. I'm partial to the color too, I have a '93 in polo green also. Make sure you join the ZR-1 Net Registry.

Congrats on the purchase!

Where are you located in Iowa?

If you're anywhere near Sioux City, IA you are within a stone's throw of a few other great ZR-1 owners. If you were at the NCCC autocross earlier this year put on by the Sioux City club, you probably met the Hartkopps and Rileys. Both race ZR-1's with similar modifications, and are GREAT people!

Enjoy the new car, hope to see it next year at an autocross!

Congrats on your new ride. Good color choice. I know just how it feels. I got mine late last month. However, I've been so busy with it's maintance I haven't had much time to drive it yet. That will change shortly. This is a great place to ask your quesitons and get correct answers.

Hey Larry, welcome to the zoo! Hopefully I'll be able to catch a peak of your Z sometime after winter goes away here in the frozen tundra. In the meantime, this and the netregistry forum are good places to hang and get good advice/info. Cya around.
