Trailering a ZR1
I purchased a 1992 ZR1 and will be going in 2 weeks to pick it up. It's a 4 hr drive and I'm by myself so I have to trailer it back. What is the best way to do that? I checked with the local u-haul place and they said the ramps are at a steep angle on the car carrier that they have. Does anyone have any suggestions? The car is just north of Charlotte, NC and I'm in Sneads Ferry, NC. I'd hate to scratch my new baby as I pick it up. I'll send pics in a couple weeks when I get her home.

I went through the same drill when I got my Z.
By far the best rental trailer I found was the one from Budget

Also a bit cheaper than Uhaul.
Just be sure to raise the trailer bed to the max height so the front spoiler clears the ramp. Also recommend you bring your own nylon tie down straps. The trailer comes with chains which can be a little rough on your new beauty.

Thanks...that helps a lot. Can't wait to get the car. Then a day to register it and it will be on the road. I'll take pics as I go along with hooking it up to the trailer. I might bring some 2x12's just in case.
Tow vehicle isn't a problem. I have a '08 F250 6.4l diesel.

I have used the UHAUL car trailer several times for my ZR1 without any problems. It straps the car down via the front tires and has D rings for the back. Bring 2 peices of 2x12 to put under the ramps and you will be fine. The left fender on the trailer also drops down so you can open the car door to get out. Good Luck and CONGRATS on the new ride.

the way i loaded up the Z-1 when i picked it up, i kept the trailer hooked up to the truck, and put a large wooden block under the trailer jack, and cranked the trailer up untill it actualy starts to lift the trucks suspension some wich also tilts the trailer and lowers the tail of the trailer to make it have less of an "angle of attack" and should have NO issues loading and unloading...that's how i do it.

Sneads Ferry? Nice. I'm moving back to J-ville next summer with some luck. There is several ZR-1s in Onslow County that I know of. Phrogs on here has two or three right now. He likes to take them apart though.
Congrats on the purchase.

I used a UHaul trailer one weekend and ended up scraping the bottom of my car fairly good. Be EXTREMELY careful. Don't listen to the guy that rents the UHaul trailer. He doesn't care about your car. If the car means alot to you, get a professional car hauler to move it. It shouldn't be that much from Charlotte to Sneeds Ferry.
