Default New (to me) Z...got my first problem...

I picked up my first Z yesterday, and after driving my '95 (w/o reverse lock out) I attempted to shift the Z w/ lock out it into reverse w/o pulling the lock out **** . Oops. So, while applying pressure in the reverse direction, remembering the lock out, I pulled up on it and it shifted into reverse - that time.

Next time I tried to shift into reverse...the lock out seems to be disconnected - and I'm wondering if it was something I did. Well, in any case a couple questions, if I may:

1) Is this a common occurrence and no big deal to fix?
2) Is there some easy way to disable the lock out feature and not be bothered with it (as I'll not be drag racing my baby Z anyways...I don't think )

TIA! Be gentle...It's my first time in a Z!

You are saying you no longer need to lift the reverse lockout ring in order to shift into reverse? Or you can't shift into reverse at all anymore?

Congrats on the new car, by the way.

The lockout ring is apparently disengaged or some such thing.

I'm sure it isn't a biggie(???). However, I recently changed the transmission on my former '95, and I still have the old ZF AND the non-lock out shifter is still on the old tranny. Hmmmmm....I wonder?? (sez me)

There is a 3mm set screw in the lift collar. Tighten it down.
