good zr1 mechanic
i have seen a few guys from west virginia on here .i live in huntington,2 hrs from columbus oh,2 hr lexington ky.i simply have no time to work on car myself nor the proper scan tools to do it right.car started running down on power i found a couple of vacum leaks thaught it would be fixed, better, but still down on power.took it to a shop mechanic claimed to have worked on many corvettes, said i had a leak under plenum ,sounded likely to me.while your there had him change plug wires and starter since mine had to be push started a couple of times.claimed the injector housing gaskets were leaking.picked it up today afted he had closed, car runs worse than when i took it there ,before had a hesitation at higher rpm and eratic idle.now it has hesitation from the start and feels down on power.

Try this!
How big of a drive is Morgantown for you? Dan Durbin who is an officer with the ZR1 Registry lives there and I believe did most of his own maintenance. He's not likely "for hire" but he's been around the cars for sometime and it might be wise maybe to have someone with knowledge just drive it. He might also be aware of someone with "knowledge" in your part of the state. I've not spoken with him in some time but check the registry site and see if he's not still the Treasurer. Ron might even post back and let you know! He's still listed as the treasurer and there's a direct link on the website!

just went out to take a look at car, it idles rough,i swear i can hear a vacum leak around pcv valves .if thats it after all the new gaskets and so on, and taking the intake down to the heads.im going to give someone a pcv enima.anyone know where to get the boot and the pcv valves and would this be consistant with rough idle thanks

Melting Slicks
Leaky PCV's will cause high idle but not rough idle.
Rough idle usually fuel or spark.
Likely culprits include Injectors, spark plugs, wires or coil packs.
Last but not least, could be ECM issue, but there would likely be other signs if that was the case.
Pull the stored codes, go from there.

dont know how ,plugs i put in car no more than 3 months ago looked like they were cracked. anyway my mechanic made it right and the beast actually runs better than ever.while checking out some zr1 shops the one in bowling green does a porting job called street skinner ,has anyone had this done and what is the cost.or would a port job at a local shop be just as good without the travel thanks
