Default 415 CID Lingenfelter Stroker

Has anyone here had Lingenfelter mod your ZR-1 with their 415 CID stroker package. I'm considering them along with Haibeck and SGC for my 1990 ZR-1. For those of you that had this done, anyone use stage 2 or 3 cam upgrades? Your comments are much appreciated.

My personal choice of builders would be Marc Haibec.

Boss:

Hal H. is probably one of the best persons on the Forum to answer this question(he lurks mostly, but goes by 'h3'). He has a 1991 LingenGeorgiaBeck 415. That is, all of them have worked on his car at one point in the past. I'd contact him for more details

They are all great tuners but its going to boil down to $'s and reputation.
You can't beat LPE's name for a stroker ZR-1. They were the first and the best to touch these engines. Although J.L. isn't with us any longer Gram is one of the most knowledgeable people in the world when it comes to the LT5, but you will pay for LPE to do it. SGC is another no brainer he been doing strokers for a long time and he is very close with Gram as well. He is the one that did a lot of cam development with LPE for the stage 1 2 3 cams.

I'm not taking anything away from Mark H. but I have never worked with him but I have worked with the LPE and SGC and they are both the most knowledgeable and their for you after the sale ZR-1 tuners I can think of.

Did Dennis ever get his car back? What about Mike Kryger?

My 90 LPE 415 with the big cams is still my favorite Vette. Not cheap, but you can't go wrong with an LPE stroker. PM me if you have specific questions.

I have been there, done that. At this point in history, I would not encourage you to build a 415 LT5.

Jeffvette just dynoed a bone stock base coupe at 395 rwhp!!! For the money you'd spend on a 415, you could have a brand new car that is damn fast!!!

Forget all that though. Bottom line is that there are much bigger things brewing for the LT5 from a few tuners right now. The 415 is no longer the big cheese in LT5s - just stay tuned!!

If you insist that this is something you want to persue right now - send me a PM and I'll enlighten you!

Big power Im sure but what about longevity? How far can you go on rod angle especially with an open deck motor before having to fill/partial fill the block?

I have my car at one of the "tuners". There seem to be some serious money being thrown at a new LT5 stroker (not by me) and interesting things are happening. One project I know is close to completion. My guess is you'll be hearing about it soon. I don't know if a 415 is for wussies but the King lives...long live the King

You're right. These long stroke motors are totally unreliable. Why there have been.................................... ............zero failures so far. I baby mine though, never take it over 3000 rpm (rod angle bothers me!). I think all 415 owners do the same.

Oh yeah - better let Katech know about this rod angle problem too - they are building an LSx in the C6RS with a 4.5 inch stroke (500 cids). Katech should know better!

BTW - I think the rod angle issue MAY be irrelevant. :o

Might be, just wondering. What is the deck height, bore/stroke on a 440 anyway?

Deck height - kinda fixed!

Bore/stroke - Depends on who builds it.

When did he get that 441 out? Or is he to busy locking down his own little forum keeping all the bad guys out?

Don't think he needs any more business until he gets Dennis his car back and also delivers Mike K his motor.
