NEW ZR-1 Article in Motor Trend Angers Me (SCAN INSIDE)

what's in a name
Maybe these clowns are suffering from a "Writers Strike" seems like lack of ability to come up with something new!!!
All the younger news Experts will misquote the ZR-1 as they never knew the nameplate and hence a lot of garbage will hit the fan.
We must endure this generation of news mongers as GM try's to sell the past!

Name a single other car by GM that the parts didn't get dumped and discontinued on after 10 years. I'd say GM abandoned the ZR1 because people didn't want to pay $30K for a motor option. Someone objective might say the American consumer abandoned it, not GM.
Nobody loves me.
Nobody loves me.

And that's for a 34 year old car...more than 3 times what you asked for. And there are plenty of more example like that...any more stupid requests?
People paid the $30K for the ZR1 option as evidenced by the fact that all were sold...and it wasn't a motor option. Only an ignorant person would say the American consumer abandoned the ZR1. GM made the decision in September 1991 to discontinue the ZR1...long before the "consumer" could have an impact. The last engine was made in November 1993 and the production line at Mercruiser was shut down.
You offer opinions (based on zero research) as facts. You give "facts" that are no where close to being correct. You take some kind of sick delight in pissing people off for no reason. And then you complain that nobody loves you...I'm asking seriously, can you understand why???

He actually likes the C6!! As a factual car tester he sucks. good humerous TV, or even better a fun read (his books are funny) is what he is all about. Sure he steps on just about everybody's toes at some point when he writes but in these days of politicaly correct nonsense and health and saftey in the extreme, it really is a breath of fresh air.
Couldn't see anything wrong with that article

The original point was to design a DOHC package on an existing small block. That didn't happen and GM and their hired help designed them into a corner. There was no way that package would become feasible and commonplace at that time. Even had they expanded production into all vettes or even other cars, the Z owners would complain that GM sold them out.

Geez - I hope GM doesnt make the same mistake they did with our Z's. They didnt separate the base car aesthetically from the Z and thus cut the external model differentiation to a simple badging issue. Notice they are only making about 2K of them the first year - sounds familiar - huh?

But what will always set our cars apart is the lack of crappy plastic covers in our engine bays! Long live the King!

That's interesting, because in every other ZR-1 vs. The World thread, they pound their chests about the major body changes from the base model, when in fact the only significant difference over the base model is the engine and rear tires.

Sit a ZR-1 next to another C4 and it's fun to see the subtle changes between them.
I've got a '90 ZR-1 and my dad's got an '84 coupe. It was a lot of fun to check out the differences because they're subtle, but they're definitely there.

"Significant" depends on what you are talking about. Try to fit a standard rear bumper on a ZR-1, you might find the difference is "significant".
I don't think too many people say they look significantly different from a standard coupe though, at least not with the hood closed. You try to equate this with meaning it was simply an engine package. Those are not the same argument.
