ZR1 as an Investment
#22
94 white and 95 aqua.
I owned the cars for less than two years.
I made 25k when I sold them.
I know there are good deals out there but depreciation on a Vette is about $2,000 per year so you must have stolen your cars at an auction and then sold them to someone who maybe paid too much.
My Zr-1 has not gone up 12.5k and I did not overpay for it when I purchased it so I'd be interested to know how you made 25,000 in less then 2 years in an extremely soft market
I consider myself pretty savy having purchased some special low mileage like new corvettes on the internet over the last 10 years and my best deal has been about $5,000 Under Valued. The Corvette buying world is very aggressive and good deals don't last and most people price their cars accordingly so if you can break even after a year or two you are usually doing well.
For example if you purchased 2 ZR-1's 2 years ago for $25,000 each or $50,000 total. You would have to sell them for $37,500 each or $75,000 total to make your $25,000 profit. The C4/ZR-1 market does not behave like that.

I think you are off here. I sold my two cars a few months back.

Its all about the right time and place.
Selling them on ecrap is a dead end, the registry is ok, but bottom line is people want stuff for nothing. I sold mine by showing them at car shows.
Gina with the two cars for sale on this site will also make some good money. She sold her yellow car and made 6500.00 in less than 5 months. Jake got a nice car that he if wanted to sell could probally get 70k plus being it has white leather and the history of who owned it.
Just my 2 cents.

The car is ment to be driven, hard and OFTEN! Or you can just drive it like you stole it!

[QUOTE=LT5corsa;1562917575] with Ray. Depending on the car, condition and care given the car should increase, BUT don't purchase for an investment.
Yeah, it will, but not in the next 5 years.

The ZR-1 is the "bang for the buck" winner. If you can find a good one for 16-20k, buy it. Just for the grins. I dont think you'll lose much if anything with good care. I think the new ZR-1 will raise awareness of its predecessor.

The right car for the right person, bottom line those who have money will pay those without money will trash the market and come up with all sorts of crap. Im not targeting anyone here just stating my thoughts.
I just purchased a 95 a few days ago for 56k and would have paid 65k if thats what it took. I had to have the car.

I can remember when a different crowd was interested in a 69 Camaro. The same will eventually happen with the ZR-1. When it does, those that don't consider it an investment today, will be more than happy to cash in.

He is talking under 20k and probably one that is red/red - I'm sorry but you are not going to just be willing to spend an extra 12k for a car like that especially when its over 50% of the total value of the car.

Yeah, I don't want a flawless 47 mile car for $50k. I want a solid, garage kept and babied car with 47k miles for < $20k. I plan on driving it for fun but not every day. Above about $25k you can get a Z06 which I don't want but if both apples and oranges cost the same, you have to compare them.
