The LS7 will never have that exotic look, no matter how much decoration you put on it. That's why the street rod guys like them so much. It's not based on performance only.

I don't know if I agree with that statement, street rod guys are kinda like teenagers, they all have to have the "latest, most 'in' thing". They say they are building it for themselves, but most of them are looking for approval, and the ones thay aren't, usually end up bitter. I've seen several rods with LT5's in them, and watched the peoples reaction to them. "What" does not equal "wow", but does usually ends up with "why". Face it, 99% of the public doesn't know or care if the engine is an LT or
an LS. And before someone calls me a "hater", review the name

Obviously probably everyone here thinks its the best motor, but to a lot of people its yesterdays and another yesterdays news. But IMHO there is nothing like it in Chevyland, I'm not interested in another pushrod motor, its the best, it sounds awesome and I want it for the enjoyment of driving that rig with it.

If ya wanna build a "sleeper" LT5 to plop into a Z, I say , and for some - such a project is worth doing on its own merit.

Well, good luck. I admit that as a frustrated mechanical enjuneer I'd like to look over your shoulder as that project proceeds. Wow! DOHC/32V 427...It would be an awesome weapon, assuming it doesn't fly apart!
P.
As far as durability is concerned, well find out next year. Mine is 427 number 2 out of 3 so far. One of two with higher strength liners. It will be finished in Dec and shipped in January. Took twice as long, but finally at the end of the tunnel. Good I shipped him a crate engine so I didnt have down time on my car. It willl see Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, VIR and Thunderbolt. Mikes 427 is holding up fine for street and strip use, but I put more stress on an LT5 than anyone can, so I will be the final test.

Thanks for the info Mike.

How much power can I expect from one with 427 cid built more for reliability, with only occasional track use?

Thanks,

I personally would start asking around the builders what they will charge to do this, Plan on anywhere from 5-10K for the motor.

I mean if your going to build one doesnt matter if its a 2 bolt of 4 bolt

Can someone it breakdown...as far the parts to build a 427. Just curious of each part would cost if one were to put one together. Just want to get an idea.. although i would never afford it anyway.

Most big cube LT5s are 530-590 hp and 525-575 tq at the tires. Im hoping for the high end, but mine is designed for a broad power band that will cost peak numbers. Thats more important for me.

I've only been out here but for 3 years...I'm northwest of the city, closer to Lake Ontario.

Thanks for the numbers.

I agree with that philosophy.

Not meant to be a slam, pls let me know if this is incorrect.
I was talking with Mike by phone today. He told me he will still do 427's but no 441's.
