C5 Vs. C6
I have 26.5 in my 2001 with 14,000 miles on it.
Recently saw a 2005 with just under 19,000 miles for 32,000.
Should I upgrade? Car is used as a daily driver.
I purposely put this here instead of C5 because I didn't want to start a war.
I'm just thinking that the C6 might hold its value better over the long run where the C5 will be long in the tooth if I sell the car in 3 or 4 years. Also the extra 50 hp would be nice

How many miles a day to you drive? If you drive a lot, I'd keep the 2001 and keep the extra money. On the other hand, if you don't drive a lot and keep the 2001 in good shape, you still should be able to get $20K+ out of it for 3 or 4 years to come. Some people have a stigma about buying the first year of a new model, so it will be interesting to watch 2005 prices. A lot of the guys who bought a 2005 have already moved up to 2007 or 2008.
Other factors to consider are what options does the 2005 have? Does it come with an extended warranty? Do you like the C6 body style over the C5?

You're going to lose some cash in negative equity by trading in your C5 and as a daily driver, you're going to put mileage on either one. The C6 is a great car... I love the way my fiance's drives, but I wouldn't drop all that money for the upgrade.

I have a 2005 C6 as a daily driver. It's the most comfortable Vette I've ever driven. I haven't had a moments bit of trouble with it. With headers, a Corsa exhaust, and a tune it gets 22mpg (combination back roads and city driving, no highways), is quiet and comfortable, and roars when you put your foot in it. That's the good news.
The bad news, I'll have to take a bath if I tried to sell it. It listed for well over $50K. By 2005 standards I bought it right (I actually bought it in 2006). I was toying with the idea of trading it on a new Vette (C6 Vettes doen't seem to be moving on private party sales) and couldn't get more than $30K. It still is a beautiful car so I'll keep it.
Summary: Dealers are giving away new ones, owners are having to give away used ones. If your interested, I'd buy it drive it and enjoy it. Just don't change your mind and try to sell it.

There is a LITTLE bit of discussion about C5 vs. C6 prices here; http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1770612
