That #359 is a pretty dang early production ZR-1. Those early number cars were given special attention to make sure they came out right.

My 1990 is #74
special attention, was given. it has cool
fuzzy dice.

here's a story, gordon killibrew, hof, and probably one of the most considerate corvette people i have ever met,
was at bowling green a couple of years ago for the gathering, we were all out in the parking lot, BS, ing
and he' looks at my car for a minute and says, you got an early car, 14.
i replied no sir, it's 74. he replied, the first 60 were never offered to the public, most went to gm execs or dealers
and such, he then kinda grinned, and told me 4 things, that were wrong with the car, that i fixed the next day, a couple
with his help. THAT"S why, ZR-1 's are special to me, the people you meet, and the knowledge they share freely.
party on.

Any of you remember when some of the early ZR-1s were experiencing cam, etc failures...WHAT SERIAL NUMBERS WERE INVOLVED?
The cause of the failures was quickly identified: not a fault of the Mercruiser's manufacturing team. The ZR-1s sat outside the factory in the cold and when it was time to load on the truck the driver fired it up and reved the hell out of it to get it up the ramp and on the truck. Probably by the time it was positioned on the truck and shut down no oil had yet even reached the chain, cams etc. The soultion was to install a delay of starting LT5 for a few seconds until oil could be pumped onto chain, cams etc. Problem solved.
Wonder if # 359 was of part of that group. I understand the Doug Johnson's original BEAST, '90#596, was not part of that group.

Actually I have heard of the above mentioned statement, as i remember
a lady they had hired, to move the car out of the plant was the culprit, but as i understand, it was only a few cars. and they were all immediatley mechanically corrected, after.

Hope you got a good picture of that signature before it's faded and then gone! Someday someone will want to know about that even if it's gone, IMHO!!!
