3.73 gears are foreplay, 4.10 are the real deal

well you busted me . but as a redhead she loves the red one .plus the fact that she is preggers lets me drive both. the black car is fully ported 350(heads inj housings, plenum) jeal headers ,my own design exhaust,410 gears, corey henderson tune ,gulstrand rear suspension,mt et street drag radials. has run a best @famoso of 11.55@123+ mph with a 1.56 60ft compared to the red car stk except for borla exhaust 13.16@110.45 with a 60ft of 2.14. id say the modds are worth it. black car feels like a rocket.

BTW, I agree w/ Goldcylon's order of mods/bang for buck
The difference could be the added shift sometimes necessary with 4:10's.
And from what I have read, the 3:73's are better than 4:10's for more heavily modded engines. ie more hp/torque- 4:10's are useless.

bob hall went to 373s in his 385 because with 410s were uslees in first gear . the only way 410s really work is with a 27 in tall tire , and guess what they become like 373s with a25.6 tire.. I am going to try both 390s and 373s @ the strip this year. which ever ones work best is what i will keep in the car. my problem with 410s is they blow the tires off the car at the line. its very tough to get a good launch. if you are going to keep the car dead stk and the gears are the only modd then maybe ok 410s work ......thats just my take on the deal for what it is worth

I'd recommend it be done in the following order:

Headers & Exhaust and Filter
P&P Plenum and Injector housings
New Chip
Gears

I think you would be happiest with the Exhaust first. It's a nice cosmetic upgrade, you will get a nice exhaust tone and pick up a nice seat of the pants increase in HP.

The 410 gears are nice but extremely difficult to hook up in the first few gears. In all honesty, I'm not so sure how much quicker they are. Yes, they make you feel like you have a ton more torque but with loss of traction, it might be a wash. If you do the above upgrades, you will have a totally different car. If you jump back into a stock zr-1, it will feel slow.

If you can handle a rattling trans at idle, a Fidanza FW frees up about 14lbs of rotational mass.

The thing I like about the exhaust is that I can do that myself...if I go the gear route, Aaron will have to put it in. The bottom line is that I am probably going to eventually do both, so it is just a matter of which will get done first. Thanks for the input guys, y'all are the best.
