My Bonneville Project up date
#581
Well we finally found the rpm limit for my motor at world of speed, extended operation at 8500 rpm took out the mains resulting in the number 8 piston unfriending the rotating assembly. Things went radically bad from there, so we are rebuilding the motor from scratch it was a complete loss.
I am going to sell my earlier ported plentum and injector housing, stage 3 cams, duel 53mm throttle body matched air horn.
This package made over 580 hp at the rear in a 372 cubic inch motor, 227 mph, and would make a screamer in a 415.
Also I have a mint thermostat housing for sale.

I will consider all offers > $4500 as I am raising money for the rebuild. similar intakes have original costs +/- $9000. Which is pretty close to what I paid for Corey to make this one. Lots and lots of painstaking time to create this artwork, this one has gone 225 mph.

beautiful work! dr phil has a 427 on the stand, but I don't think you can talk him out of it
that's what I'd build might think of ITB for your next build, we're trying to muster an effort for it.
Lotus made it work well with the old calliope intake in the rear engine race cars that turned up 8500 with flat plane crank and shorter stroke

if you bleed that one dry, you have too long a pull

It’s basically 2 mins wide open throttle with little time below 7500 rpm the 4 to 5 shift is a 300 rpm drop. On the top end at the wall, it’s like the old California drag down, under full torque. I really do not need to go above 81-8200 I will be just making a small gear change to the Jericho.

Records are by displacement a C motor is from 305 to 372, this is the record I am after. A 588 would be a AA motor with a record of 268 in a naturally aspirated stock body production car. We have gone 294 mph with the twin turbo A motor vette, it’s not just about going fast if it was I would use displacement and 30 psi of boost.
My goal is to set a record with the motor that originated in the car, it’s very easy to buy Hp once you move on to after market motors.

short strock stock crank turned down with lighter ti rods from pauter is what I would recommend with some nice flat top pistons and some chamber work for bigger valves and to soften them up
put a much less expensive ITB intake on her and let the mighty lion roar. I also saw some "calliope" lt5 flat plane crank motors lying around that would do well.
sheesh, I want the boat motor, who bought that one. Those headers need a pair of turbos.

"UPDATE: State of Utah Approves $5 Million to Restore Bonneville Salt Flats
Our voices were heard! Thanks to enthusiast and industry outreach in recent weeks,
Utah state lawmakers have appropriated $5 million towards a program to restore
the Bonneville Salt Flats. SEMA applauds the Utah legislature for authorizing
these monies to fund the creation of a 10-year program to dramatically increase
the amount of salt pumped onto Bonneville. The program is now contingent
upon securing federal funds."

3.875 SB billet crank
Pauter ti rods
I'd be curious if we could scrounge a smaller bearing big end rod and then just use an offset ground stock crank (less bearing, lighter rod)
maybe good old sb chevy rods with a 1.88 bearing shell TI would be pretty light The comp motors in drag racing would wind up really tight with these litte fellows in the bottom end and I think it would work out nicely for a reduced bob weight and cheaper rotating assembly for the next build
diamond or JE or forged piston of choice with uber compression and the mls hg
better chains. save the intake that thing is a honey!!
or run those ITBs (really like to do this similar to C5 R intake setup!!)
8100 sounds like a good idea, with the lighter rotating assembly and the little rods, it might do better
save a buck or two as well scrounge!!!
