Most Expensive C4 Is? (Not A ZR-1)
I just read the lastest online edition of Corvette Enthusiast magazine and discovered the most expensive C4 model now (excluding the Callaway and the Lingenfelter models) is ... the '96 Grand Sport Convertible.
1996 Grand Sport - 190 - Convertible - $40,300
1996 Grand Sport - 810 - Coupes - $33,100
1995 Pace Car Convertible - 527 - $32,850
1995 ZR-1 - 448 - $37,950
1994 ZR-1 - 448 - $37,350
1993 ZR-1 40th Aniversary - 245 - $39,375
1993 ZR-1 - 448 - $34,125
1992 ZR-1 - 502 - $30,400
1991 ZR-1 - 2044 - $30,000
1990 ZR-1 - 3049 - $29,625
Let me first say, I'm a fan of the Grand Sport, love the blue and white stripe combo. I'm very surprised it is now ranked as the most expensive C4 ahead of the ZR-1 considering the technical differences between the two models. Maybe they attribute it to the low production number of 190 produced.

I like the Grandsports, they are nice looking cars. That said I have never understood why people pay so much for what amounts to little more than a fancy paint job.

yeah i agree with bob, lt4 with a paint job.
I have seen a 50-70k mile lt4 in this market go for 9-10k
but if its in grand sport trim, asking prices are in the range of 25-28k
18k for a paint job,? a nice one at that, but no paint job i know of is worth that

I've seen the convertible GS with red interior go for big bucks, and some of the Callaway (B2K) cars go for more than that. I'm surprised the B2K isn't on this list.

Oh, hell...
...Who knows. I'm old enough to remember people shelling out good money for a "pet rock"! By NO means am I comparing a GS to a pet rock, except to say the price some will pay for certain things has nothing to do with reasoning. Ya can't rationalize the irrational.

I just dont get how a skunk vert is worth more than a ZR-1, and then to top it off if you have a skunk with a red interior and its a vert its worth even more its the rare aspect but different strokes for different folks, but it shouldnt be worth more than a ZR-1 oh well.
buy em while they are cheap and have more than one to play with!

Having had 2 GS ragtops, I can say that it was a fun car to drive, and it drew a crowd everywhere it went. Will I buy another one? Only when they come back down to Earth. IMO, they aren't worth sticker price...yet.

BTW: the guy who has done my body and paint work for me for over 20 years had one of the original Grand Sport coupes delivered to him by mistake while he was working for Red Adair in Texas. He almost reworked the body before someone clued him in and the car eventually got to its rightful owner.

The cars aren't selling at the dealers that have them and very few individuals are buying.
Cool car, just way overpriced. I'll take 2 ZR-1s over a GS ragtop...better yet, I'll take all 3 of my C4s over the car that Roger's has...I have less $ in mine.
