Clutch Fluid Cap Removal
Stupid question I'm sure, but I can't get the clutch fluid cap off. I have the service manual but there is no illustration of the type. It just says "remove cap".
Is the cap treaded or does it have to be pushed down and turned? It seems to be taking way to much effort and, if doing the wrong thing, I'm afraid I will break the reservior.

That's what I was doing but it's hard to get a good grip on it. Now that I know it's treaded I'll put a little more pressure on it. I just need to figure out how to get a better grip on the reservior, it seems pretty fragile.
I'm glad somebody else had the same problem. The thing is really on there tight.
Thanks for the response.

Mine was the same way. I had to resort to the use of a pair of adjustable water pumps to get the cap off. Just get a tight hand grip on the reservoir though.

Did you mean adjustable pliers with a rag wrapped around the cover to protect it?
Sometimes people crank them down but there is no reason for that. Once you get it off don't screw it down so tight.

Same thing had me guessing the first time I tried it.
Thought for sure it would break off.
Resorted to my large pliers as well; said a few prayers; then e few @#$%^, and then it turned.
xlr8 gave the best advice.... not so tight when you put it back on.
Have helped a number of C4 owners with this, and all were convinced that there would be pieces all over.
Fear not!
