I hate to sell my dream car for something I could build. I like how you all talk about the LT5 and my baby is only a motor away from being one.
All I have to say Im stuck at a rock and a hard place. So I got one final question. Would it be pointless to buy a LT5 motor and put it in my vette?

You'd be money and headache ahead to just wait for the right ZR1 to come along. It'll also be worth more in the long run compared to putting an LT5 into your existing Corvette.

You cannot turn your car into a ZR1 or a clone by just dropping a motor in one the list of other pieces needed to do this is endless and very expensive. Plus the body parts from the doors back, windsheld etc are unique to the ZR1 that goes for the ecm fuel system etc also. Heck even the trans has some differences
These guys are trying to do you a favor by discouraging you to try this. Most projects similar get abandoned when they realize the cost. Its huge. Many parts arent available and when you do find them youre going to pay through the nose its unavoidable in some situations; Not too many have parts and most are here so theres a small circle of choices thats it. If you really like power then you may not be happy with the stock LT5. They are strong for what they are for sure but if you decide you want more you better have real deep pockets.
Build a stout stroker SBC put some ZR1 rims on it and call it a day. Serious.
Browse the zr1net registry or find someone that has the book Heart of the Beast youll see what they are talking about. Lot more to the car than just having a different motor.

Save your self alot of time and money and put in a LS1-2-3-6-7 easy enough to swap.
