Scotchbrite was recommended in a recent thread for that filter replacement. Finish looks great. What product did you decide to use?

I ended up using the VHT aluminum. A very nice color match to the original. I then baked it as recommended and top coated with PPG 2002.

It is a stunning finish in person. The pics do not do it justice. The Worth wheel finish was too silver to my taste as I was looking for a more correct color. The VHT product is a very close match to the original PPG color.

BTW, in making this final decision, I purchase all of the materials suggested in both threads. I sprayed out samples of all on aluminum pieces and heated all to over 400 degrees for 1 hour. I feel lie if one of these engines reaches 300 degrees you have more to worry about than paint. The only failure occurred when I attempted to bake the clear before it had completely dried, causing some very fine bubbling to occur in some areas. When the clear was allowed to fully dry ( about 2 hours) no failure occured. I am, however, no longer allowed to use the oven for cooking anything but food stuffs. Looks like we may be getting a new oven and I will have one for the shop...

I used the Lingenfelter paint and really liked the product.

Check out my earlier thread.

I have some before and after shots on there.

Looking for a source for the torx fasteners. Can only find black round head allen fasteners locally...
