Default Survey: 90 MY Lug Nut extension clip

Any of you with MY 90 ZR-1s - can you confirm if you do or do not have the clip for the lug nut extension in your car console - back passenger side? In another thread that started about the tire pressure gauge, we have found that some (including mine) do not have these clips on apparently original cars - but most do and the manual says it should be there. These were mounted with studs and speed nuts, but those of us missing the clip have no holes. Looking for a better sample to see what was supposed to be there. Some cars also have an elastic strap held with velcro (not shown on the picture.)

SN 1936 has no clip or holes. Does have the velcro elastic strap.

Isn't that for the locking nut socket, not the extension?

As you can see from my previous picture for the air gauge, mine does not have that clip, nor are there holes for it:

I do have the elastic.

I think the consensus has been that the lug extension goes in the clip and the lock key goes in a foam wrap that goes inside the elastic - but none of that is set in stone. Your picture is exactly like mine - no clip and no holes.

Actually thats what it is for, the GM directions in that packet I took a picture of in the other post state thats what the foam wrap is for.

My '90 ZR-1 #2299. Has the tire pressure gauge holder & the elastic band thing velcroed to the console. It has no clip and there are no holes where it would be installed. Maybe the earlier '90 Z's had the clip and then for some reason GM discontinued it for the later Z's?

This is good info - so far it seems all of us with VIN above around 1900 do not have the clip. The earlier ones do and the later years, but I have yet to hear from anyone in the 1900 - 3000 range with the clip or with holes for the clip.

So far, it appears that GM discontinued using the clip somewhere between '90 #1422 & '90 #1723.

So all '91-'95 ZR-1's have that clip but no elastic? Or do those years have both? Wonder why they deleted it and then brought it back?

If you want one of these clips, checkout ebay 180515459358 - but I am feeling less inclined to add one to my #1936 since it definately looks like a good block of these cars did not come with the clip after all, for whatever reason.

The survey definately is agreeing with what you say - but have you seen that anywhere else or in official writing? Also, do you know how the lug extension was installed on the later SN cars? From what we have been able to find, the elastic was for the lug nut lock that came with a foam piece. but I don't think anyone has posted any information on how the lug extension was stored when the clip was absent.
