I'm running too hot in Houston.
My digital temp hovers around 205 F until I turn on the AC. Then it goes up to around 215. That just normal town driving. If I hammer it, temp will spike to 240 range. I have to run the heater to bring it back down, which returns it to about 205. Fans are running. No obvious blockage in front of the radiator. Am I low on water or is my t-stat stuck or water pump weak? Car only has 35K miles on it.
Thanks guys.

Take a good flashlight and look on the pass. side of the car between the radiator and A/C coil. Look at the entire rad.
Then pull out the rad and clean it out.
Is your car chipped for early on fans ?

Fans turn on at 200, but I also have a fan override switch and they are on constant so that's not the issue. I will look closer at teh radiator this eve.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I agree...240 is too high...mine runs at about 220 even under very agressive driving.
It is sticky hot here in H town already, that is for sure. I saw it will be 99F this week and the heat index factor is 105F.

Mine ran hot when idling for a long time in traffic. It never overheated but it never made me feel comfortable. 100 degrees and over half an hour in traffic was the limit.
I removed the radiator and it had some leaves but not enough to call a reason for the overheating. I replaced the radiator with a Dewitts ($500) aluminum radiator and now it never goes above mid range. Worth the cost if you are going to the effort of removing the stock one.

What frank said. A lot of dirt and silt builds up between the fins as well. Plastic bags, leaves and other crap gets stuck in the shroud area as well.

I saw some leaves in there and pulled them out. There wasn't much in there. I added about a liter of water to the expansion tank at the top of the engine bay. Then I sprayed water from the fan side thru the radiator and I will take it out this afternoon to see if any of that helped. I may spring for the trick radiator if this didn't solve the problem. I would like to get a lower temp thermostat if I get a new radiator, but I don't know if I really would need to.

chip to turns fans on early, clean radiator(stuff in there you can not see until its out of car), lower thermostat, alum radiator all will help, fans running all the time will hurt because it will suck more stuff into radiator, GC is running stock radiator here in PHX as daily driver with no problems, I have a fluidyne and like it but $$$

Here's what my radiator looked like at about 35K when I replaced it with a Ron Davis radiator...I would opt for a Ron Davis Radiator/Redline Water Wetter/Distilled H2O/180° thermostat. Of course that's just my COOL opinion... The 180° thermostat can be purchased at NAPA (P.N. THM 124) http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...124_0225195710
