I agree. I've had a 92 and an 01 Z06, and of the two I really enjoyed the C4 more. The Z06 was fast, but it was a little too refined. More of a grand touring feel than a sports car. The C4 ZR-1 is really the ultimate Vette to me, which is why I can't wait to pick mine up in a couple of weeks.

Yes, mine is a 90 that started life as a 375 hp version. In 93 they opened up the plenum slightly, changed the timing of the cams (try that with a single cam pushrod motor) and used a less restrictive resonator, yielding 405 hp.

However, after opening up the plenum, the injector housing, and the heads "to spec", AND setting the cam timing and breathing into a set of long tube headers and open exhaust, and tuning it all - as you suggested, it doesn't matter which one you start with.
