Default '94 Engine refinishing project

Well, I finally finished re-finishing the Heart of MY Beast. Here are some pics. Started out simple but was a labor of love. Also, new injectors, new radiator hoses (boy, the lower three where a chore to replace!), new serpentine belt, SS bolts. Car was down for 9 weeks. Took time to clean up everything before re-installing. BTW, was able to take off the driver's side cam cover without removing the brake booster!
I have seen all different colors for these motors. Mine is perfect match to the Admiral Blue exterior.

Thanks! I toyed with the idea of doing it all metalic silver with the SS botls but the bolts would not stand-out well, so onto the Admiral Blue. I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

Looks good. Was thinking the coolant tubes would look good coated also with SS bolts.
Could always polsih them also but Pc would look finished.

That's what struck me too. Do the tubes Jerry, do the tubes!

Whatever, it looks great. Next time you take some pix get a ladder and shoot an overhead shot of the whole car with the matching blue motor nestled in there.

I did the coolant tubes metalic silver. Did not want too much blue. I thought the silver would be a good contrast.

That looks great! Is that powder coating or paint?

Thanks.
It's powder coating. Paint does not do well with the heat.

The way we did it was remove all the torx bolts from the cam covers except the last bottom 2 near the firewall. They were loosened all the way then we pulled the cam cover off with the bolts still in place. When we put the cam cover back on we reversed this process and put the last 2 bottom bolts in and then wiggled the cam cover in place. We did not know if this would work with the SS allen head bolts but when it slid into place it was a relief!

Did you have to cut down an allen wrench to gain access to hex head bolts ? What about the passenger side, any clearance issues there ?

Yes, kind of made our own tool the loosen the bolts. This was much easier than moving the brake booster. On the passenger side just removed the cover off of the A/C box then had room to R & R the cam cover.

Adding my billet throttle body plate and sending the coolant pipes to me to get engraved to match the billet throttle body plate would sure wake it up. I can engrave the pipes after they have been PC'd so no issues there.
