There's also a Doug Rippie modified 1995 that has my eye as well. Thanks for any insight!
Make sure you drive both.... The LT1 and LT5 are quite different, but both are special in their own ways.

The ZR-1 is unique and one that I am proud to own. Lots of friends help each other with upgrades, maintenance and issues with your cars. (both online and in person)

Regardless of your choice (LT1 or LT5), you will be very happy! (though the ZR-1 is guaranteed to give you a PERMAGRIN!)

Good luck and let us know how the decision process goes!

To be honest, can't find roads for ZR anymore,
Can you go over 100, what to do in traffic jam with manual transmission? Think over....

Get the ZR-1. They’re really not difficult to work on. I wouldn’t trust any place outside of the handful of known ZR-1 shops in the country to work on mine. That and I enjoy doing the work myself. If you have the space for your own repairs, or wrenching isn’t your thing, I can see why it could become a pain. Get that Doug Rippie Z.

I can’t see an L98 or LT1 being a consideration over an LT5 unless they were Callaway offerings, complete with full AeroBody.

I think what others are suggesting is that you are setting up a “false equivalency”. The idea that an LT1 based C4 is somehow comparable to a ZR-1 is erroneous. As the British say, its “chalk and cheese”. And if you think its a choice, then you need to know more about the ZR. If you really want a ZR, then that’s the only one you should consider. The LT1/4 is no substitute for the ZR, full stop.

What’s the problem with a traffic jam? I daily drove the busiest highway in North America with a manual. Not a big deal at all.

As I said, I drive what is literally the busiest highway in North America every day. Yes, busier then what you mention. On bad days my 1.5 hour commute becomes four hours. No problem with a stick.

I was not going to reply to this 9 year old post but, You always have two ways to go in town with the traffic or save it for the weekend. I'm sure wherever you live you can find some nice back roads to drive on.
