Default ZR-1 Digital Display Problem

A young friend who has a '91 ZR-1 is experiencing a problem with his the digital display in his instrument cluster. Although the display seems to work, suddenly there are segments missing in the displayed numerals. We've checked for bad grounds, etc. but we've concluded--hopefully correctly--that the display itself is bad. Is there anyone who can suggest a place to contact for a reasonable repair/exchange price? Any other suggestions??

This is a symptom of a weak battery. The ZR-1 does not like a weak battery. All sorts of unusual symptoms manifest themselves.

If a new battery does not solve the issue, K&B Special Products does rebuild of the display.

these guys fixed mine - the lost segment problem is pretty common, and not easily user-repairable.

4 years later and all OK so far.
