Default Mobil 1 Special - check it out

The AutoZone program gives you a "rewards card" which you pickup in the store.

You get 1 point for each $20 you spend (supposedly there has to be 1 hour between purchases and you only get 1 point per visit regardless of what you spend. Unfortunately for us, our Mobil 1 deal is $32+ for Mobil 1 and Mobil filter so we have to spend about $150 to get our $20. However some of the other oils (blend) are $21 with a bosch oil filter which is $20 rebate for each $105.00 spend.

Basically if you buy the Mobil 1 package deal (available until June 1) you pay $35 (with taxes) for 5 quarts Mobil 1 and mobil 1 filter. Extended Mobil is $2 more. This includes all taxes etc. With the rebate you are getting 5 quarts and Mobil 1 filter for $30. Extended is $32.

Walmart is about $27 (with taxes) per 5 quart jug but you get no filter (12.99) value.

I asked if they would give me the price difference between the Bosch and Mobil filter which is about $6 difference since they never have the Mobil 1 filter in stock. They would not go for that deal, but would have been sweet if they did so I picked up a Mobil filter for my LS1.

Just wanted to let everyone be aware. $30 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1 and Mobil filter is a great deal - stock up

If you are in the Mobil 1 rewards program you get $5 credit for every 6 quarts you buy. You can get gift certificates etc.

Let me get this straight.

1. Drive to Autozone, buy 5 quarts of oil and filter for the cheapest price you are going find around. Do this 5 times and you get $20.

2. Enroll at mobil.com (takes 2 mins) and send receipt and labels in - takes 5 minutes max for $5 per 6 quarts you buy.

That is complicated to you?

Costs me $300 a year for 12 oil changes.

The dealer would be over $1,000.

Significant savings for 3 hours of my time and I know the job is done right, and also what motor oil is in my Vettes.

Costco had a deal earlier this year, I don't remember the exact cost but the per quart price was less than $5. I bought three six packs

You change your oil every month?

Great deal, you probably got $4 quart which is possible at times.
However, you get the $12.99 Mobil filter which I think makes the deal good.

I often wonder if the Mobil 1 filter is all that. Take for example on the Z, I use the Bosch 3401 and its half the price.

I take it you change oil every 3 months regardless of milage ?

Kragen just had a sale at $4.99 a qt... it was close enough on price I didn't drive to Walmart for the 5 qt jugs.

As far as Mobil 1 filters go... seems they are pricey.

I use to avoid Fram filters but it now appears their quality has risen considerably.

About 6 or 7 years ago I found Mobil 1 at Target for $3.07 a quart... I bought em all.

I get my oil for such a good deal, that I do change my oil frequently.

My last Z oil change I think I had 300 miles on the oil. Probably a total waste of $$ but I like to change oil between seasons especially before and after winter.

Mobil recommends maximum 6 months or 12 months for Extended.

Seems silly to change it with such low mileage and the car just sitting there.

Regardless though, it keeps all my 12 quarts clean (3 in oil cooler) since I change alot.

$27 plus the price of a bosch filter is way cheaper ...that said, I do like to buy ahead about 3 oil changes due to shortage(remember the 5w-30 M1 shortage) or price, but I'm not going to go back and forth or beg like a dog for a treat. It's either on sale or it isn't.

I wish you lived next door... your 300 mile drain oil would work well in my Lincoln.

3 qts in the oil cooler ? You must have a big aftermarket cooler because I siphon mine out and it only gives me about half a quart.

Agreed normally speaking but in these "package deals" with the Mobil Filter and rewards points, its actually cheaper with the Mobil Filter.

Sorry meant to say about 1 1/2 quarts - I guess the other 1 1/2 are in heads etc.

That came from Marc that 1 1/2 is in cooler.

My local Autozone let me substitute the Bosch filter since they didn't carry the mobil one for the Z.

All the stores do that. I usually wind up getting the Mobil 1 filter for another Vette since the Mobil 1 is 12.99 and the bosch is like 6. They should give you back the $6 but they won't.

The bosch is a better filter for the Z anyway.
